The popular wild blackberry is actually the zarzamora, also known as the black raspberry. It is a fruit that grows on bushes from the Rosaceae family, which includes more than 2,000 species of herbaceous plants, bushes and trees located throughout the temperate regions of the world. The main European fruits belong to this large family, as does the rose bush. Blackberries are a source of mineral salts and vitamins, and are especially rich in vitamin C, vitamin A and potassium, meaning that they make an important nutritional contribution.
